According to Astan News, in this meeting held on the evening of Saturday, July 15, 2023, under the chairmanship of Dr. Seyed Saeed Reza Ameli, Secretary of the World Congress of Imam Reza (AS), a group of members of this committee including Dr. Vaezi, Head of the Faculty of Theology, University of Tehran, Dr. Abdullahi, Head of Farabi School, University of Tehran, Dr. Hasan Bolkhari, Professor of the University of Tehran and permanent member of Art Academy, Dr. Sadri, a member of the faculty of Tarbiat Muallem Shahid Rajaee University and the former director general of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO), Dr. Najaf Lakzaei, head of the Research Institute of Islamic Sciences and Culture, Dr. Azimzadeh, a faculty member of Imam Sadiq University (AS), Dr. Zali, a member of the faculty of the Philosophy Department of University of Tehran, and Dr. Zohre Kharazmi, the secretary of the international department of the Congress and Assistant Professor of the University of Tehran, were present in person and virtually.
This meeting started with the presentation of a report by Dr. Ameli from the International Expert Meeting of the Fifth Global Congress of Imam Reza (pbuh) which was held on May 30th in Mashhad. He said: The Congress started with the message of Ayatollah Javadi Amoli and the speech of Hojjat al-Islam Maravi, the Superintendent of Astan Quds Razavi, and continued with the holding of 4 specialized meetings, speakers from Iran and 7 countries, including United States of America, Malaysia, England, Iraq, Turkey, Syria, and Senegal, on the topic of the fifth congress, namely, "Civilizational Thought of Imam Reza (Pbuh); Justice For Everyone, Injustice For No One.
The Congress Is A Forum For The Production of Academia
Dr. Ameli also pointed out that the Global Congress of Imam Reza (pbuh) is a forum for the production of intellectual and academic contents and should not be considered exclusive to the university and the Howzah, but both of them should participate in this matter.
Hojjat al-Islam Ameli also informed about the dialogue and thinking with the holy authorities of the Shiite world and said: In this regard, we hope that their cooperation will be effective in holding the Fifth Global Congress of Imam Reza (pbuh), peace be upon him, on May 26-27, 2024.
He also expressed that the Fifth Global Congress of Imam Reza (pbuh), entitled "Civilization Thought of Imam Reza (pbuh); " Justice For Everyone, Injustice For No One " has been prepared, because choosing this issue is, on one hand, rereading a general need in the world, and on the other hand, justice is the most fundamental issue that is raised in the structure of divine and Islamic thought. The issue of justice and discrimination is a global issue and concern, therefore this topic has been chosen for the Fifth Global Congress of Imam Reza (pbuh), which will be held after a 30-year gap.
Holding 11 specialized pre-meetings so far
Dr. Zohra Khwarazmi, secretary of the international department of the Global Congress of Imam Reza (pbuh), also presented a report on the holding of 11 specialized meetings so far, pointing out that some of them were featured by the international scholars, including the meetings of pre-meetings of September 2022, December 2022 and May 2023.
Dr. Kharazmi also said: Consultations meetings with institutions, individuals and intellectuals of different countries are currently underway in the secretariat of the international department of the Congress so that future meetings can be formed with more richness. Among the meetings and consultations, she mentioned the meeting with the International Vice President of the Al-Mustafa Al-Alamiya Society, the European and American management of Qom Seminary, the head of the Sharif Governance University, activists in the field of Islamic Studies at the Islamic College of London, the Islamic Academy of Hamburg, etc. She continued: Among the international efforts in this field, there has been the establishment of free access to 114 volumes of Razavi's books in 24 languages, which can be used by researchers as the first step.
Connection with the network of thinkers of the Islamic world
Dr. Vaezi, one of the members of the academic committee of the Congress, also stated that social justice has a well-known and well-stablished literature in the world, and added: Regarding social justice, we should extract a selection of the words and teachings of Imam Reza (pbuh) and make them available to our global audience. Fortunately, we have valuable teachings from the sermons of Imam Ali (pbuh) in Nahj al-Balagheh, from the letter of Imam Ali to Malik Ashtar to the teachings of Imam Reza (pbuh), which we should try to introduce more of them.
He clarified: In this regard, among the characteristics of Imam Reza (pbuh), in addition to reviving inter-religious dialogue, there are the discussions of social justice that he demonstrated in practice, and the publication of them needs more consideration and blessing. A network has been created in the theology faculty of Tehran University with the participation of dozens of thinkers from the Islamic world, which can play a good role in the intellectual affairs of the Congress.
Benefiting from the capacity of other countries in holding pre-meetings
In the continuation of the meeting, Dr. Zali, another member of the academic committee of the Congress, pointed out the necessity of using the capacity of other countries in holding pre-meetings, and addressed the secular intellectual trend in the world, which makes it difficult to accept religious teachings, including in the discussion of justice. But there are people in the academia who agree with this way of thinking, and the effort of the Congress to find and bring them into the discussion is vital.
Providing a package for the issue of justice
Dr. Faezeh Azimzadeh, another member of the academic committee, discussed the word justice in the West and the difference between Islamic jurisprudence and philosophical views. He said: If it is necessary, a package on the topic of justice should be prepared and will be prepared in order to provide the basis for the production of articles. She emphasized on establishing relation with related institutions such as Imam Reza International Foundation and so on.
Elaboration of a manifesto of the practical goals and effectiveness of the Congress
Dr. Sadri, the other of the members of this academic committee, also referred to the international standards and called for a limited meeting to compile the operational outputs expected from the Congress.
In this meeting, it was decided that other members of the academic committee of the Congress would also submit their opinions to the secretariat in identifying international partners and holding specialized meetings throughout the year. Also, in this meeting, most of the received abstracts were submitted to the members of the scientific committee based on their expertise for evaluation.
