Human Dignity in Abrahamic Religions and Razavi Teachings
The First Pre-Meeting of the Fifth Global Congress of Imam Reza (pbuh)
(November 25, 2022)
In this preliminary meeting, Dr. Al-Sayed Ali Al-Sayed Qasim talked about human dignity from the perspective of Imam Reza (pbuh) and pointed out in detail that human dignity in the approach of Imam Reza (pbuh) is that basically all people have the same origin in their existence, but the capabilities and the internal and external potentials were not equally divided between them. Of course, it should be noted here that these abilities are neither a proof of human dignity nor a product of dignity. Also, on the other hand, restrictions are neither considered a sign of insult nor caused by it. Dignity is one, capabilities and limitations are different and diverse. Because the first is from the category of existence and the second is from the ownership and existence is not dependent on ownership.
Then Sheikh Kamel al-Arizi talked about human dignity in religions and at first explained the concept of dignity as stated in the first article of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights: All people are born free and are equal in terms of dignity and rights and have Reason and conscience are the best and most accurate and should treat each other as brothers. Among them, because without preserving dignity, there are no rights for a human being, and based on this, it can be concluded that dignity is the main chapter of achieving one's rights, and by violating one's dignity, all one's rights are destroyed. Therefore, dignity is the right of a person to value himself, to be respected and to be treated ethically. Dignity is the essence of all morals, laws, regulations and constitutions. Human dignity means that we consider man as our goal, not as a means or a tool, because man is not an object, and from here, a distinction must be made between the concept of a human being and the concept of a thing. It is a fixed principle that does not diminish and cannot be waived under any circumstances and for any reason. Some consider the concept of human dignity to have two dimensions, the first is his privileged position as a person in the society who deserves to be honored and respected, and the second is thta in his inner self be valued as an independent person from society. In the first dimension, a person is influenced by the values of the society, religion, customs and traditions that he lives in, while in the second dimension, he goes beyond the national and regional dimension as an individual and reaches global points. In the second part of his speech, he discussed the dignity in the Holy Qur'an and said that what distinguishes the Qur'an is not that the Qur'an is only a holy book for Muslims, but what is contained in the noble verses of values, moral concepts related to all times. Location. Many verses have addressed the concept of human dignity, which in short is firstly honoring man as God's successor on earth, secondly man's superiority over other creatures and thirdly honoring man for having reason. Imam Reza, peace be upon him, was one of the most prominent men of his time in preserving the dignity and sanctity of the people and protecting their rights and respecting them regardless of their diversity and beliefs.
In the end, Dr. Mishal Kaadi from Lebanon also praised the scientific and divine authority of Imam Reza (pbuh) and said that Imam Reza (pbuh) and Islam are one. In his life, the Imam has the role of the ruler and the most important role he plays is to guide the nation towards the truth and religion, to establish Islam in their lives, and to consolidate the rules, morals and behavior, so he taught so.
